Tree Planting for the Te Ara Kakariki Greenway Canterbury Trust
Oceanbridge Christchurch assisted with native tree planting for the Te Ara Kakariki Greenway Canterbury Trust.
The trust is establishing ‘greendots’ of native planting mainly on private land with the assistance of landowners to enable a greenway for native birds to fly/nest between the mountains and the sea. Very little native bush (around 0.05%) has survived on the Port Hills and Canterbury Plains due to Maori and Pakeha settlement, hence many birds are restricted to isolated pockets of bush and need our help to thrive.
